Sacred Heart Family Seminar
We ask that all students undertake this self-led seminar with a parent or guardian or even as a family. Then you are asked to fill out the form linked at the bottom of the page, also with a parent or guardian. This will take time. We suggest setting aside an hour at least as this is a valuable opportunity for you to demonstrate to your children how important the issues around responsible digital-citizenship are and to allow enough time to properly address any important questions that come up. Only from this informed perspective do we want your children to agree with all of these points in order to use electronic media in their lives responsibly. Feel free to contact the school for support with any questions you may have.
Electronic media or devices for the purpose of this agreement means: mobile phones, cameras, computers of all kinds, tablets and their uses on social networking sites and with applications of all kinds.
All videos are operating under a Standard YouTube licence. Their use here in no way impacts on the creators' potential for income.
This collection of videos is part of your introduction to acceptable usage of the Internet at Sacred Heart.
Please watch them all. When finished fill out the Family Agreement.

Copyright & Free Use...
What are they?
Why not print off this poster as a reminder?
The video on the right is NOT part of this seminar but does illustrate how Fair Use works.
Bucknell Professor Eric Faden has produced the most amazing video mashup I've ever seen: "A Fair(y) Use Tale" cuts together thousands of extremely short clips from dozens of Disney cartoons, lifting indivudal words and short phrases to spell out an articulate, funny, and thoroughly educational lesson on how copyright works. |
